While at The Salvation Army one of my goals was to increase general awareness of the organization as well as specific awareness around the programs and services offered to the community. I worked to build relationships with local media outlets and establish the organization as a subject matter expert on the needs of the less fortunate. During the holiday seasons (Thanksgiving & Christmas) The Salvation Army opens its dining room, which is used 7 days a week to provide meals to its Transitional Housing residents, to the homeless and feeds anyone that comes. A media release was sent to my contacts at the local media outlets garnering coverage from 3 different outlets at both the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
